June BTC Meeting
What: BTC Meeting
Where: WECU Education Center, 511 East Holly Street
Date: Wednesday, June 11
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Agenda:
Food of Medicine:
How to De-Inflame Your Body
Dr. Cherelynn Segers will explain how the foods we eat can prolong inflammatory response and how a natural diet and supplementation can get inflammation back under control. This session is applicable to triathletes of all levels, as training involves pushing the body through stress and using muscles in new ways. Furthermore, it is often pre-existing conditions that have a tendency to become inflamed. Inflammation can be a good thing telling us what is happening in our bodies, but improper diets can prevent the body from healing itself. Dr. Segers will review how we can work on our diets to teach ourselves how to turn off imflammation properly.
* BTC members, family and friends are invited.
** Light food and refreshments will be provided

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND RESULTS
It was a big weekend of multisport...
Congratulations to SEAN HACKNEY for setting a PR of 11:40.56 at Ironman Brazil! Wow - way to go!
Great job to all the participants in this year's SKI TO SEA race. We saw some outstanding performances by many BTC members. Top 50 finishing teams included BTC members Damian Hill, Kurt Hartmaier, Jim Clevenger, Josh Feyen, Marti Riemer-Reiss, Carl Newton, Vern Latta, David Carnahan, Graham Youtsey, Harvey Varga and Tjalling Ypma. Nice work to everyone who raced! Also make sure to check out the Whatcom Independent and Ski to Sea articles on Co-Captain Riemer-Reiss and her awesome Whatcom County Women's Team!
A big shout out to BTC sponsor RunningShoes.com for placing first in the Whatcom County Men's Division!
Finally, check out the "Club Spotlight" about the BTC in the latest edition of Adventures NW magazine. It's sandwiched between an article by BTC member Mike McQuaide and another article highlighting member and coach Daryl Smith!

Way to go at Ironman Arizona!!
BTC members Kelly Molaski and Luis Rojas just competed at Ironman in Tempe, AZ, this past weekend!
Kelly "Bellingham Bomber" Molaski smashed her age group, setting a new course record for her division. Ironman.com had this to say about Kelly in the Women's 45-49 age group:
Taking credit for predicting a Kelly Molaski victory is like a rooster taking credit for
predicting sunrise. Gee whiz, another win. Golly gee, another course record.
And, oh yeah, at 49 she's at the top of the age group, and uh, did we mention?
Her time would have won 40-44 and come within a minute of breaking that
record, too. We have it on good authority that there's a bill in Congress to stop
her from turning fifty next year.
And, in his first Ironman, Luis Rojas did the impossible: smiled through the entire event. We have yet to find a picture with less than a grin from ear to ear. Yet to be interviewed it is hard to deduct what Luis enjoyed more; the gusting headwind or the blinding sun. You've done us proud!
Great Job, now recover and get back to training.
