BTC August Meeting

What: BTC Events / Meetings
Where: Lake Samish Swim area
Date: Monday August 2
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Agenda: BEGINNERS "HOW-TO" TRIATHLON

1) GROUP transition set up
2) GROUP Swimming and learning how to 'sight' for the buoys and how to draft effectively
3) GROUP Transitions
4) GROUP Biking and skills development
5) GROUP Transitions
6) GROUP Running and how-to on ascending and descending hills

You get the general idea I am sure... we are doing this as a group and no-one, I repeat, NO-ONE will be left behind.

What the class/session will require of you:
1) Goggles and a suite (wetsuit optional) but a bathing suite is mandatory ;)
2) Road or mtn bike with proper footwear (nothing fancy, just what you would like to use for a race or what you currently use in training)
3) Running Shoes
4) Gels, electrolyte solution or just plain old water will work but I suggest bringing something with a carbohydrate (sugar of some sort) and electrolytes in case we sweat a bit.
5) A positive attitude
6) Questions will be welcomed

This will be a FREE session put on by the Bellingham Triathlon Club. Membership into the club is a very low $15/year which gives you many club discounts on gear from our sponsors as well as invaluable information such as this and other clinics put on throughout the year. The fee covers the liability insurance ONLY for the club members during events such as this.

A class of approximately 8 people will be the minimum so we hope that any and all interested come and join us. If you want further information please contact me or Daryl and PLEASE RSVP ASAP to ensure this event occurs.

June BTC Meeting

What: BTC Meeting
Where: WECU Education Center, 511 East Holly Street
Date: Wednesday, June 11
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Agenda:
Food of Medicine:
How to De-Inflame Your Body

Dr. Cherelynn Segers will explain how the foods we eat can prolong inflammatory response and how a natural diet and supplementation can get inflammation back under control. This session is applicable to triathletes of all levels, as training involves pushing the body through stress and using muscles in new ways. Furthermore, it is often pre-existing conditions that have a tendency to become inflamed. Inflammation can be a good thing telling us what is happening in our bodies, but improper diets can prevent the body from healing itself. Dr. Segers will review how we can work on our diets to teach ourselves how to turn off imflammation properly.

* BTC members, family and friends are invited.
** Light food and refreshments will be provided
